In reading the placement figures concentrate on the following things
1.If median < mean then surely most of the students are getting salary less than the average salary

Almost all the B schools add the variable component fully but that is the maximum amount one can earn so always calculate the package as one lakh less than what is quoted in the sites as the actual package and moreover when it comes to takehome salary Its hardly 70% of the average pack..One more fact is that If you are a fresher there is a very high probablity of landing in a job below the average package .....In the second case if you are an experienced guy...one has to make sure he gets good grades as most placements are just decided based on the grades.....thats what many experienced guys really dont know .The salaries like 20-300% hike over previous salaries .......are something said in media ...But I have never heard abt anything of that sorts .....Max 100% hike that too persons with good grades in the MBA ...And this is also one of the reason for high attrition rate amoung MBA guys in any company..as they feel they are paid less but the reality is hardly some 5% of the guys get the pay they deserve.....
